The purview of AICTE covers programmes of technical education including training and research in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Town Planning, Management, Pharmacy, Applied Arts and Crafts, Hotel Management and Catering Technology etc. at different levels. 

AICTE is vested with statutory authority for planning, formulation, maintenance of norms, standards, quality assurance through accreditation. It also coordinates funding in priority areas, monitoring evaluation, maintaining parity of certification, awards, and ensuring coordinated and integrated development and management of technical education in the country. 

National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)

NAAC is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country. It arranges for periodic assessment and accreditation of institutions of higher education, or specific academic programme or projects. NAAC stimulates the academic environment for promotion of quality of teaching-learning and research in higher education institutions 
National Board of Accreditation (NBA)

Medical Council of India (MCI)

The mandate of the council is to ensure maintenance of uniform standards of medical education, recommendation for recognition of medical qualifications of medical institutions in India or foreign countries, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. It also coordinates registration of doctors with recognised medical qualifications and reciprocity with foreign countries in the matter of mutual recognition of medical qualifications 
Dental Council of India (DCI)

The objective of DCI is to regulate dental education and profession dentistry in the country. It recommends on starting dental colleges, increasing the number of seats and starting new courses along with prescribing standard curricula and standard of examinations. 
Pharmacy Council of India (PCI)

PCI is a statutory body working under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. It regulates profession and practice of pharmacy in India and the registration of pharmacists and approval of pharmacy institutions. The function of PCI overlaps with the function of AICTE and State Pharmacy Councils 
Indian Nursing Council (INC)

The function of INC is to establish a uniform standard of training of nurses, midwives and health visitors. INC also recognizes qualifications for the purpose of registration and employment in India and abroad. It advices the state nursing councils, examining boards, State Governments and Central Government regarding nursing education in India. 

Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH)

The objective of CCH is to lay down minimum standards of education in homeopathy and to recommend recognition of medical qualifications granted by university, board or by institutions. One of the main objectives of CCH is to recognise homoeopathic medical colleges in India. 

Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)

The Central Council of Indian Medicine is the statutory body constituted under the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 
The mandate of CCIM is to prescribe minimum standards of education in Indian Systems of Medicine viz. Ayurved, Siddha, Unani Tibb. The Central Council frames and implements various regulations including the Curricula and Syllabi in Indian Systems of Medicine viz. Ayurved, Siddha and Unani Tibb and advises Central Government in matters relating to recognition of medical qualification. 
Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)

Mandate of RCI is to prescribe minimum standards of education and training of various categories of professionals/personnel dealing with people with disabilities. It recognizes institutions, organizations and universities running master’s degree, bachelor’s degree, P.G.Diploma, Diploma, Certificate courses in the field of rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. 

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)

The main objective of the NCTE is to achieve planned and coordinated development of the teacher education system throughout the country, the regulation and proper maintenance of norms and standards in the teacher education system. 
The mandate of NCTE covers the whole gamut of teacher education programmes including research and training of persons for equipping them to teach at pre-primary, primary, secondary and senior secondary stages in schools, non-formal education, part-time education, adult education and distance (correspondence) education courses. 

Bar Council of India (BCI)

The BCI lays down the standards of professional conduct & etiquette, in addition to standards of legal education. The mandate of BCI is to inspect and recognize universities whose law programmes shall be a qualification for enrolment as an advocate.
